Course objectives | The objectives of this course are to improve confidence and proficiency in English communication for future careers in business and science. This first course will focus specifically on practical speaking and reading skills using material from a range of professional contexts such as finding employment, business emails, conferences and notifications/announcements. This course will also introduce specific strategies and self-study techniques to further improve TOEIC test scores. |
Course methodology | Active student participation will be expected in a range of pair-work and small group activities. Classes will also include weekly vocabulary peer-testing, short extensive reading sessions, and a small number of short TOEIC test simulations. There is also a significant self-study(homework) component to this course with students being expected to complete at least 10hours/lesson outside class. |
