Course objectives 細胞生物学の重要な概念を実践的なトピックを題材にして学び、バイオサイエンス研究を広い視野で遂行するスキルを養う。重要な生命現象そのものだけでなく、それらが発見・証明された研究の過程や、実際の研究例について学ぶ。さらに、実験データの解析のために統計学を学ぶ。
The aims of this course are to understand important concepts in cellular biology through practical biological achievements, and cultivate wide knowledge and skill, which are essential for biological research. The course introduces the processes of the achievements that uncovered important life phenomena. In addition, the course deals with biological statistics for analyses of experimental data.
Course methodology 生命現象の理解につながった実践的な研究のトピックスを例として取り上げ、学生のバイオサイエンス研究を活性化する講義を行う。
This course introduces previous research topics that uncover the cellular mechanisms, and encourges the researches that students are tackling.

1 【A-12】細胞骨格
Cytoskeleton
(稲垣)細胞骨格の基礎を理解して、細胞内輸送や細胞運動における細胞骨格の動的な機能を学ぶ。 Essential細胞生物学17章を予習、復習すること。 (Inagaki) The aim of this class is to understand the molecular basis of cytoskeleton. This class also deals with dynamism of cytoskeleton in intracellular transport and cellular movement. Students must read Chapter 17 before the class, and must review what they learned.
2 【A-10】細胞内区画と細胞内輸送
Intracellular Compartments and Transport
(木俣)生体膜による細胞内区画化とタンパク質輸送の基本概念を理解する。さらに、タンパク質の細胞内局在や輸送の解析法を学ぶ。
Essential細胞生物学15章を予習、復習すること。
(Kimata) The aim of this class is to understand concepts of membrane-enclosed organelles and protein sorting in cells. This class also deals with methods for analyses of intracellular distribution of proteins and their sorting.
Students must read Chapter 15 before the class, and must review what they learned.

3 【A-11】細胞の情報伝達
Cell Communication
(塩﨑)シグナル伝達による情報伝達の重要性を分子レベルで理解する。さらに、タンパク質リン酸化の解析法を学ぶ。
Essential細胞生物学16章を予習、復習すること。
(Shiozaki) The aim of this class is to understand cell communication in molecular levels. This class also enhances the methods for analyses of protein phosphorylation.
Students must read Chapter 16 before the class, and must review what they learned.
4 【A-9】膜の構造と膜輸送
Membrane Structure and Membrane Transport
(笹井)細胞の外界とのインターフェイスである細胞膜の構造と機能を学び、脂質二重膜とそこに埋め込まれているタンパク質の役割を学ぶ。また膜を通した物 質の輸送と、イオンチャネルについて学び、神経細胞における電気情報の伝達について理解する。 Essential細胞生物学11、12章を予習、復習する こと。 The aim of this class is to understand the structure and function of cell membrane, which consists of lipid bilayer and membrane proteins. This class also deals with membrane transport through membrane transport proteins and ion channels. It enhances electrophysiological comminication of nerve cells. Students must read Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 before the class, and must review what they learned.

The Cell Division Cycle
(梅田)細胞は、細胞分裂によって細胞から生じる。サイクリンとCDKの機能を分子レベルで理解して、細胞周期と細胞分裂の基本概念を学ぶ。また細胞死について理解する。
Essential細胞生物学18章を予習、復習すること。
(Umeda) The only way to make more cells is by the division of those that already exist. The aim of this class is to understand molecular basis of the cell cycle and cell division, in which cyclins and CDKs play critical roles. This class also deals with cell death.
Students must read Chapter 18 before the class, and must review what they learned.
6 【A-14】生殖と遺伝学
Reproduction and Genetics
(中島)多細胞生物は次世代の個体を生殖によって作り出す。有性生殖とその過程で起こる減数分裂について学ぶ。また有性生殖の遺伝学を学び、ヒトの疾患の分子レベルでの解明の手法を理解する。
Essential細胞生物学19章を予習、復習すること。
(Nakajima) Multicellular Organisms reproduce their ofsprings by reproduction. The aim of this class is to understand sexual reproduction and meiosis. This class also deals with genetics of sexual  reproduction and genetic analyses, which enable to understand molecular basis of human disease.
Students must read Chapter 19 before the class, and must review what they learned.

Statistics in Bioscience 1
(作村)統計学の基本的な概念・手法及びその生命科学研究への応用を学ぶ。
(Komai) The aim of this class is to understand basic concept and method of statistics. This class also introduces the application of statistics to bioscience.

In this class, we review what we learned in the course, and check the knowledge by examination.

Eligibility for this course 2/3以上の回の出席を条件とする。
Students are required to attend a minimum of 2/3 of classes.
Consultation times 授業当日の3時限目。授業が3時限目の時は同日の4時限目。
Grades/Evaluation バイオゼミナール基礎IIと一括して評価する。
期末テスト50%、各回のミニテスト25%、概念図およびノート25%
Grading of this course will be decided together with that of Basic Bioscience Seminar I.
Term-end examination: 50%, Mini-examination in each class: 25%, Concept figure and note in each class: 25%.
